Former deputy prime minister of Kyrgyzstan Duishenbek Zilaliev was placed in the pretrial detention center 1 in Bishkek. Lawyer Samat Matsakov told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, this decision was made by the judge of the Pervomaisky District Court of the capital Nurdin Ibraimov.
The lawyer noted that the defense asked to choose for Duishenbek Zilaliev a preventive measure not related to arrest — to release him on bail. However, the court denied the request.
«The criminal case is falsified. It was initiated on the basis of a statement from a person whom Zilaliev does not know. The statement was written for some reason six years later. The document states that my client took money from the person for a permit to develop a deposit. We asked for face-to-face interrogation with the victim, but we were refused. We will appeal against the decision of the court to a higher authority,» Samat Matsakov said.
He informed that the main criminal case against Duishenbek Zilaliev was considered in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek. An examination has been appointed on it, in connection with which its consideration has been suspended.
In December 2018, the State Committee for National Security found undeclared houses, apartments and millions on a bank account of the former deputy prime minister. He calls the case against him a political show and does not admit guilt. Duishenbek Zilaliev was sentenced to nine years in prison. In June 2021, the Supreme Court overturned the decisions of previous instances and returned the case for a new trial.
