Man abducted in Jalal-Abad held hostage in Uzbekistan

Kyrgyzstani was taken to Uzbekistan and held hostage, demanding $50,000. Press center of the State Committee for National Security reported.

On February 28 this year, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic applied to the State Committee for National Security. She told that her brother was being held hostage by unknown people in Uzbekistan.

On October 23, 2022, the Kyrgyzstani was taken through Baimak checkpoint in Ala-Buka district of Jalal-Abad region to Uzbekistan through deception. The man was held there for five months. The criminals demanded $50,000 from close relatives for his release.

The abducted person was delivered to Kyrgyzstan and handed over to his relatives on March 7, 2023.

The State Security Service of Uzbekistan detained two natives of Namangan region on suspicion of kidnapping the citizen of Kyrgyzstan. Appropriate measures are being taken to bring them to criminal liability.
