Residence of the former head of state, Almazbek Atambayev, who was released from prison, in the village of Koi-Tash remains in his ownership. The ex-president himself told reporters during a press conference in his mansion.
At the meeting, the former president was asked if his previously confiscated residence had passed to the state.
«All this was canceled by a court decision,» Almazbek Atambayev replied.
Earlier, the State Property Management Fund stated that the private residence of Almazbek Atambayev was on its balance. It was confiscated. On April 12, 2022, the Alamedin branch of Cadastre state institution registered ownership of the property in the form of a health center with a total usable area of 1,385.5 square meters. The authorities planned to open a children’s rehabilitation center there.
The criminal case against the former president on the fact of the illegal release of the crime boss Aziz Batukaev was sent for review. The Supreme Court overturned the previous convictions. Almazbek Atambayev was also allowed to travel outside the country for treatment. He has been in custody since August 2019 (he was released for several days during the events in October 2020 and then detained again).
