Emergencies Ministry of Kyrgyzstan sends 50 more rescuers to Turkey

Fifty more Kyrgyz rescuers and six doctors left for Turkey by a special flight on Sunday. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

According to the head of the ministry, Boobek Azhikeev, the rest of the rescuers will leave for the areas affected by the earthquake on February 14. Earlier it was reported that Kyrgyzstan would send 100 rescuers to help the Turkish people.

There are also 75 yurts on board the aircraft, which will be set up for people left without housing.

The second flight to Turkey will deliver the remaining yurts and humanitarian cargo, which includes medical supplies, clothing, and essentials.

More than 170 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic and medical workers will take part in search and rescue operations.

Earlier it was reported that Kyrgyz rescuers pulled a seven-year-old boy, a pregnant woman and a 16-year-old teenager from the rubble.

Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 hit southern Turkey on February 6 near Gaziantep city, where more than a million people live. Dozens of aftershocks were registered in Syria, Georgia and other countries.

The Turkish Embassy in Kyrgyzstan announced collection of humanitarian aid. A single deposit account has been opened in Kyrgyzstan to raise funds to help the victims.

The number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey exceeded 24,500 people, more than 80,000 were injured. Almost 4,500 people are reported dead in Syria also affected by the earthquake.
