First operation performed in medical clinic of Osh State University

An operation was for the first time performed on a patient with stomach cancer in the medical clinic of the Osh State University. The press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported.

The operation lasted four hours, it was performed by the head of the Surgical Department of the clinic, Zhanek Belekov, and the oncology surgeon Omurbek Alishov.

The director of the institution, Jazgul Imetova, told 24.kg news agency that the medical clinic of the Osh State University was officially opened on April 1, 2021. «The building was built earlier, but it was rented out. In 2020, it was decided to turn it into a red zone for hospitalization of patients with COVID-19. After its closure, a major overhaul was carried out and a clinic was opened. Then it had two departments: outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic ones. In 2022, we opened a Dental Department and an intensive care unit, and also prepared a Surgical Department, where the first operation took place on January 26, 2023,» she said.
