A woman set a New Year tree on the town square on fire in Mailuu-Suu. The Internal Affairs Department of Jalal-Abad region confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
The incident happened tonight. A criminal case has been initiated under the article «Destruction or damage to property» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
«The 34-year-old local resident was detained on suspicion of committing the crime. She made a confession. According to the suspect, she does not believe in the New Year. The woman decided to burn the New Year tree so that people would not take pictures near it and would not believe in this holiday. An investigation is underway,» the department said.
