Man suspected of setting eight cars on fire in Bishkek

A man suspected of setting cars on fire was detained in Bishkek. Press service of the Department of Internal Affairs of Oktyabrsky district of the capital reported.

Yesterday the police received information that a car was on fire at the intersection of Akhunbaev and Abai Streets. A citizen made a statement to the police at the scene. He asked to take action against the unknown persons who set his Mercedes-Benz Sprinter parked on Akhunbaev Street on fire.

«In addition, on the night of January 31, unknown persons set six cars parked in different districts of the capital on fire. A criminal case was initiated under the article «Destruction or damage to other people’s property» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Police officers detained the suspect in the crimes — 32-year-old man. He was taken to the temporary detention facility of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital,» the Department of Internal Affairs said.

Possible involvement of the detainee in other crimes is being established. The criminal investigation continues.
