World-class mountain resort for tourists to be built near Bishkek

A mountain-tourist resort of international level will be built in Oruu-Sai gorge in Chui region of Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov held the second meeting of the National Council for Tourism Development in the Kyrgyz Republic and approved the project of a new Birbulak ski resort near Bishkek.

At the meeting, its participants considered a report on the activities of the Fund for Development and Support of Tourism in the Kyrgyz Republic JSC for nine months, issues of improving the attractiveness of the country for foreign tourists, as well as directions for the development of tourism projects in Issyk-Kul and Talas regions.

The National Council for Tourism Development also approved projects for the construction of the international sports complex Tamga in Issyk-Kul region and the new mountain tourism cluster Birbulak in Chui region.

It is noted that Birbulak mountain-tourist resort of the international level will be built in Oruu-Sai gorge in Chui region. The project provides for the construction of hotels and chalets, installation of a funicular and lifts and all the necessary infrastructure for an international ski resort. The project will be implemented as part of a public-private partnership.

Edil Baisalov noted the priority of the implementation of the project, which will create a new favorite place for year-round recreation 20 kilometers from the capital and will attract hundreds of thousands of foreign ski lovers to the republic.

Another equally ambitious tourism development project in 2023 should be the construction of an international Olympic training center in Jeti-Oguz district, on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake.

The Tourism Development and Support Fund also presented a draft design of a sanatorium-resort cluster in Razzakov town, Batken region, which provides for the construction of a sanatorium, a children’s camp, and cottages.

Much attention is paid to the promotion of health tourism. For this, 25 sanatorium and resort facilities have been identified, which will be modernized by the joint efforts of the state and trade unions.

It is planned to build seven new facilities — in each region of the country.
