Pharmacist detained for selling psychotropic substances without prescription

Employees of the Central Department of Internal Affairs of Bishkek, together with representatives of the Department of Medicines and Medical Products, checked the city’s pharmacies for the sale of psychotropic substances without a prescription. Press service of the department reported.

«The policemen held a preventive conversation with the heads and pharmacists of more than 30 pharmacies to prevent sale of medicines containing psychotropic substances without a doctor’s prescription, sales to minors, as well as on pharmacy drug addiction,» the statement says.

At Osh market, a resident of Bishkek voluntarily gave out psychotropic substances called Lyrica and Tropicamide, which she purchased without a doctor’s prescription for 580 soms in one of the pharmacies.

«The policemen identified the pharmacist, it turned out to be 31-year-old E.A. She was taken to the Investigation Service of the Internal Affairs Department of Leninsky district for making a decision within the framework of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the Internal Affairs Department noted.
