Ex-head of security services Murat Sutalinov summoned for interrogation

The former chairman of the National Security Service (now the State Committee for National Security) Murat Sutalinov was summoned for interrogation by the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan. He posted the information on his Facebook page.

According to Murat Sutalinov, Iskhan Ikhlasov, an employee of the State Committee for National Security, came to his house the day before. The latter summoned him for a conversation.

The wife of the ex-head of security services, Gulnara Sutalinova, told 24.kg news agency that Murat Sutalinov did not go for interrogation.

«We were not given any summons. Yesterday, an employee of the State Committee for National Security said that Murat Sutalinov was summoned for a conversation at 9 p.m. We did not go anywhere because it is illegal to hold interrogations after 8 p.m.,» she said.

Murat Sutalinov was a defendant in a high-profile criminal case on the events of April 7, 2010. Immediately after the change of power in the Kyrgyz Republic in April 2010, he fled the country, was on the wanted list for a long time, and in December 2011 he returned and appeared before the court. Later it turned out that he had kidney cancer.

In 2016, Murat Sutalinov was sentenced to 20 years in prison. After a while, the lawyer and relatives of the convict began to sound the alarm that he was seriously ill and could die in prison. The deputies of the Parliament also spoke in his defense, they asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to review the case against Sutalinov.

Bakiyev’s associate was released in 2019.
