The design capacity of new schools in Bishkek is 6,800 student places. Mayor of the capital, Emilbek Abdykadyrov, announced at a press conference.
He added that, in fact, the construction of new educational facilities made it possible to cover about 20,000 children.
«Classrooms in the new schools are large and spacious. If in old schools they are 18-20 square meters, then in new ones — 25-30. Thus, we have provided 20,000 student places,» he said, adding that there are 30 people in classes now, and not 50, as it was before.
At the same time, the mayor acknowledged that the new facilities did not completely solve the problem of overcrowding and lack of schools. According to him, there is a need for educational institutions in housing estates.
«We will analyze, determine for the next year where and how much we will build, and form a list. Companies that built 15 schools will participate in the competition without a tender, because they have shown themselves,» he said.
According to Emilbek Abdykadyrov, $9.7 million was saved during the construction of educational facilities this year, since intermediaries were excluded.
Emilbek Abdykadyrov added that next year the construction of social facilities would begin earlier, in February, in order to open them by September 1.
Recall, 15 schools (including separate buildings, sports halls) and one kindergarten were built in Bishkek. Funds were allocated from the republican budget.
