The authorities of Kyrgyzstan have done everything possible to achieve the best results during the negotiations with Uzbekistan on the border. The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiev said at a parliamentary meeting.
According to him, there will be no better results.
«We have not given a hundredth of land from among the disputed plots to Uzbekistan, except for the land that is now under water — 4,485 hectares. Keep this in mind. This has been achieved through hard work and very difficult negotiations. I express my gratitude to our colleagues from the Republic of Uzbekistan, who correctly perceived our requests and met us halfway,» said Kamchybek Tashiev.
He added that no head of state had ever tried or wanted to solve the border problem before. Now the authorities have achieved determining of boundaries. Uzbekistan promised to compensate for the unbuilt canal. After negotiations between the presidents of the two countries, Kyrgyzstan refused financial compensation in favor of land plots that are transferred to the republic.
«As a result of the negotiations of the head of state, we demanded not financial compensation, but land plots. That’s why we’re taking Gavasai. We needed money, we could get hundreds of millions of dollars. But we did not take them, we took the lands that our ancestors transferred to Uzbekistan in 1956. Now we have them back. This is what we have achieved,» the head of the security services said.
