Demarcation will be carried out next year to determine the physical borders with Uzbekistan. The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), Kamchybek Tashiev, announced at a meeting of Parliament.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan must determine the legal boundaries with Uzbekistan now.
«There are no physical borders in the European Union, only legal ones. We also hope that in 10-20 years there will be no physical borders, wars and land distribution between the countries of Central Asia. But now we have to legally determine our boundaries. We will begin to demarcate the physical borders in 2023,» said Kamchybek Tashiev.
He added that the interests of the state were in the first place during the negotiations on the border with Uzbekistan. «If we adopt all the documents, then we can safely walk around Kempir-Abad reservoir, fish there, use the water, manage it jointly. We are moving towards this. On our part, all possible levers have been used to achieve the best results,» the head of the security services said.
