MPs are considering an agreement with Uzbekistan on separate sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border and joint management of Kempir-Abad reservoir. The meeting is attended by the President of Kyrgyzstan.
Sadyr Japarov noted that some deputies did not want to vote for ratification of the document. In his opinion, they do it based on their own interests.
«I would like to appeal to you: when making decisions that affect the fate of the state, you would be responsible. I can’t speak for everyone, but one or two deputies say they won’t vote because the Cabinet of Ministers is not fulfilling their request. They say that their people are not appointed to positions. If the Cabinet or me come here for the sake of our own interests, fine, don’t vote. But the issue under consideration today concerns the integrity and security of the state. You can not consider this, relying on your personal grievances. There are those who say: leave this question for later, do not bother. No, that’s not possible. If we don’t consider it today, then it will be difficult to achieve such an advantageous agreement,» Sadyr Japarov said.
He added that the population of neighboring countries has been growing day by day, the land area has been decreasing.
«Therefore, if we leave the solution of the issue for later, blood will be shed over 1 acre of land, not to mention 19,000 hectares. You yourself know how many people have already died because of the border issue for 30 years,» Sadyr Japarov said.
