Vehicles in Bishkek checked for toxicity of exhaust gases

Testing of passenger and freight vehicles for toxicity of exhaust gases has started in Bishkek. The capital’s Department of the Patrol Police Service reports.

Specialists of the Technical Supervision Department of the Patrol Police Service, together with environmentalists, will identify violators.

According to the department, acrid smoke from the exhaust pipe can be caused by the use of low-quality fuel or a technical malfunction of the car, as well as the absence of a catalytic converter.

The culprits who violate the permissible emission standards will be issued a warning with a recommendation to eliminate the violation of operation of the vehicle.

Mandatory technical inspection of vehicles in Kyrgyzstan was canceled at the initiative of the then Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov in 2012.

It is passed twice a year by those who use transport for entrepreneurial work — taxis, heavy trucks, public and special transport.
