Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: Head of Cabinet announces amount of damage

Damage from the armed invasion of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 3,130 billion soms. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, said at a parliamentary meeting.

According to him, this is a preliminary figure, which was announced by the commission.

Akylbek Japarov recalled that as a result of the armed invasion by Tajikistan, 63 people died from injuries, 12 were killed in road accidents, 206 were injured. At least 661 residential buildings were damaged, 423 of which cannot be restored. Eleven administrative strategic facilities, 27 social facilities, 335 sheds, 197 life support facilities, 61 cars and 1 bridge were also damaged.

«The Civil Commission calculated a preliminary damage of 3,130 billion soms. We must strengthen the military personnel in Batken region. We propose to change the model for protection of the local population. In this part, the deputies propose changes to the law on weapons to protect the local population. We hope that you will support this initiative. We will introduce pre-military training in schools. Liquidation of the elementary military training rooms was one of our big mistakes. We plan to fix it,» Akylbek Japarov said.

The head of the Cabinet recalled: the president signed a decree on raising the salaries of military personnel. About 2.7 billion soms will be spent on this.

«We have found funding sources. One year of service will be equal to two for those servicemen who work in Batken region, and their salary will be increased. We also allocate money for military equipment. We will allocate from 6 to 8.5 billion soms for the restoration of Batken region, compensation for the families of the victims, and much more. 15 families where non-military personnel died will get 1 million soms each, the wounded will get compensations based on the severity of the injury. Families, where servicemen died, will also receive compensation based on legal documents,» Akylbek Japarov said.
