A round table was held in Osh city on the topic «Consolidation and increasing the capabilities in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic».
It is noted that the event was held as part of the implementation of the municipal program for the prevention of HIV, tuberculosis in the context of COVID-19 in accordance with the Paris Declaration on Combating HIV.
It was announced at the round table that, as part of a pilot project, a machine will be installed this year in one of the social pharmacies of the city for conducting rapid HIV tests (saliva method) for all citizens.
«If the project yields results, similar machines will be installed in the future. It is also planned to strengthen the information campaign for migrants on HIV prevention at the Osh airport,» the press service stressed.
According to statistics, as of October 1, at least 1,276 cumulative HIV cases were registered in Osh, of which 874 were men and 402 were women. At the same time, the most «popular» age in terms of the spread of HIV is 29-39 years.
Popularization of post-exposure prophylaxis of HIV, as well as the issue of regulating newly arriving migrants and citizens of the Russian Federation for their mandatory testing, HIV prevention among vulnerable categories of citizens, is a topical issue.
