Chairman of the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan, Zamirbek Bazarbekov, regrets that he could not reach understanding with the media and bloggers. He announced this at the round table discussion «Interaction of courts with the media and coverage of court hearings.»
At the same time, Zamirbek Bazarbekov urged journalists to be objective in covering court hearings.
«The judge is obliged to listen to both sides, to study and examine the evidence presented. Similarly, for the sake of objectivity, in accordance with the requirements of international journalism standards, it is important for media representatives to show the positions of the two sides. According to Article 20 of the Mass Media Law, a journalist is obliged to verify the authenticity of materials. But, as domestic media experts note, the most common mistake among representatives of domestic independent journalists and bloggers is the absence of the opinion of the second side,» he said.
The head of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic noted with regret that various attempts were made to build interaction with individual bloggers.
«But still, it is too early to say that we were able to reach a full understanding with all the media and bloggers. We still have to work in this direction, and the Supreme Court will not give up its intentions to strengthen interaction, to be as open as the law allows,» he said.
