EAEU to label electronic cigarettes according to unified rules

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) considered the initiative proposal of Kyrgyzstan and decided to introduce labeling of reusable electronic cigarettes and similar individual electronic vaporizers in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) according to unified rules. Press service of the EEC reported.

According to the document, the states of the Union will independently determine the date of introduction and the procedure of labeling by identification means on their territory. At the same time, they will have to notify the Eurasian Economic Commission of this no later than six months in advance.

The ban on putting unmarked products into circulation cannot be executed before October 1, 2022.

«The interaction of national labeling operators within the framework of cross-border trade will be carried out in the manner provided for by the basic technological organizational model of the system for labeling of goods by identification means in the EAEU,» Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation Department, said.

Taking into account the fact that this group of goods belongs to the category of excisable goods in a number of EAEU countries, an additional requirement may be established at the level of national legislation for the application of a material carrier containing anti-counterfeiting means to goods.
