The heads of the State Committees for National Security of Tajikistan, Saimumin Yatimov, and Kyrgyzstan, Kamchybek Tashiev, held talks on Monday, which resulted in signing of a protocol on establishing peace. The document also provides for the withdrawal of additional forces from the border line.
The parties discussed issues of ensuring stability in the border areas, and also stressed the obligatory observance of the ceasefire regime.
According to the head of the SCNS of the Kyrgyz Republic Kamchybek Tashiev, the situation at the border is stabilizing, this work will be continued.
Earlier, the press center of the SCNS reported that Kamchybek Tashiev, together with representatives of law enforcement agencies and regional authorities, was on the territory of Tajikistan, where, as a result of negotiations, he reached an agreement on release of four servicemen of the Border Service of SCNS, captured by the Tajik side.
Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 183 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
