Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: Eight schools, kindergarten damaged in Batken

Classes have been suspended in 54 schools and 48 kindergartens in Batken district. Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan reported.

As of 10 a.m. on September 19, educational organizations do not work in Batken. Tan Shoola private kindergarten was damaged.

Classes have been suspended in 54 schools and 48 kindergartens in Batken district. People were accommodated in four schools and six kindergartens.

Eight schools and a kindergarten were damaged. The commission is currently working to clarify the damage.

Classes began today in all schools in Kadamdzhai district, except for Semetei lyceum. People were accommodated in kindergartens; they began to return to their places of residence. No damage was caused to schools and kindergartens.

Classes began in seven out of nine schools in Sulukta. Classes have not yet begun at the school in Koltso village, which is located near the border with Tajikistan. Lessons will start tomorrow at the school No. 4 in Leilek. Kindergartens resumed work.

Classes have started in 12 out of 17 schools and 17 out of 23 kindergartens today in Chon-Alai district.

Five schools and six kindergartens will resume work tomorrow. There are no destroyed buildings.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 163 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

By the decree of the President Sadyr Japarov, September 19, 2022 was declared a Day of National Mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic.
