Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), Kamchybek Tashiev, met with residents of the invaded areas of Batken region, who were forced to leave their homes due to aggression of Tajikistan at the border. Press center of the SCNS reported.
«Issues, problems that residents of the border regions have faced these days have been discussed at the meeting. The SCNS head said that all border and related topical issues were under the special control of the head of state. Negotiations are underway with the neighboring country to resolve them. He stressed that all issues of disputed sections of the border will be resolved exclusively by peaceful means, respecting the interests of the state, residents of the border areas and on mutually acceptable terms,» the statement says.
Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 134 victims, 36 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.
Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon agreed to ceasefire on September 16. The Tajik side violated the agreements.
