Kyrgyzstanis call on world community to give objective assessment of Tajikistan

Kyrgyzstanis have resumed collecting signatures for the petition «Aggression of Tajikistan against the Kyrgyz Republic» on change.org website.

«One of the monumental features of the people of the Kyrgyz Republic is the desire for peace and harmony both within the country and with neighboring states. We are patient, but fair in our decisions and actions, giving a worthy rebuff to enemies. We call on the world community to give an objective assessment of the perfidious actions of the Tajik authorities, which unleashed a military conflict on September 14, 2022 on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, which escalated into a full-scale military aggression on September 16,» the message says.

The authors note that all video and photographic materials testifying to the actions of the Tajik military against citizens of Kyrgyzstan have been preserved. The use of heavy military equipment and military weapons by Tajikistan, as well as repeated violations of ceasefire agreements by the Tajik side were recorded.

The petition was created on April 28, 2021 after another conflict, in which 36 citizens of Kyrgyzstan became victims. Since Tajikistan does not comply with the peace agreements, the collection of signatures continues.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 122 victims, 24 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon agreed to ceasefire. But, according to the latest data from the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side violated the agreements again.
