Invasion of Kyrgyzstan: Sadyr Japarov writes post on social media

The President of Kyrgyzstan regrets that the conflict with the use of weapons repeated in Batken region, resulting in bloodshed. Sadyr Japarov wrote on his Facebook page.

He addressed the people of Kyrgyzstan in connection with the invasion of Tajikistan into the territory of the country.

«Our compatriots died in the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. I express my condolences to the families and relatives of those killed at the border. They died while fulfilling their sacred duty, which is to protect the Motherland. They have not given a single meter of our land. Rest in peace. I promise that their families will be fully provided. I also express my condolences to all the people, because all the dead are our children. Unfortunately, armed conflicts can not go without casualties. I express my gratitude to our border guards for their courage, for the fact that they gave a worthy rebuff to the enemy. They steadfastly withstood the pressure. I believe that when there are such men, the integrity of Kyrgyzstan will be preserved,» he wrote.

Sadyr Japarov noted that there were also casualties from the Tajik side.

«Not only our citizens became victims in this armed conflict. According to operational data, the Tajik side also suffered heavy losses,» the president wrote.

Not a single meter of the territory of Kyrgyzstan will be given to another country.

Sadyr Japarov

«If we turn to history, we remember that losses were inevitable due to border disputes. But we will not give to anyone a single meter of land inherited from our ancestors. We will firmly defend our national interests. You know that the borders with Uzbekistan have already been demarcated. The only thing left to do is document it. The issue of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is also on the agenda. Its resolution, as history confirms, requires great caution and patience. Despite this, we will not stop trying to resolve this issue as soon as possible,» Sadyr Japarov wrote.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 103 victims, 24 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

Presidents Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon agreed to ceasefire. But, according to the latest data from the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan, the Tajik side violated the agreements again.
