Situation on the border is stable, but tension still remains. The Deputy Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS), Kamchybek Tashiev, told reporters.
According to him, during the conflict, the Tajik side fired not only at the Kyrgyz military, but also at civilian facilities.
«Yesterday the Tajik side attacked five places. Four attacks were on military facilities — border posts and frontier outposts, another object is civilian. Ten civilian objects were damaged in Samarkandek village, four civilians were injured. This is against all the rules. If this happens again, we will take appropriate measures. Two border guards were wounded,» Kamchybek Tashiev told.
The SCNS Chairman noted that the conflict on the border was pre-planned and provoked.
«The provocation was planned, and we have information about it. They (the Tajik side. — Note of 24.kg news agency) took the position in advance. We would never take such action against a neighbor. The Presidential Envoy to the region, the heads of the regional law enforcement agencies saw it all. Civilians who attacked our border posts were recorded. This is the first time this has happened. At the same time, our border guards are ready for any situation. We have the strength and ability to defend our border. Border guards perform their duties, they are provided with everything necessary. The situation is under the control of the head of state,» Kamchybek Tashiev said.
Recall, three shootouts occurred on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on Wednesday. The border guards of Kyrgyzstan discovered a border detachment of Tajikistan in Bulak-Bashi area of Batken region. The military personnel of the neighboring country took up combat positions on a disputed section of the state border. The demands of the Kyrgyz border guards to leave the territory were ignored. Tajik border guards opened fire. In response, the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic also used weapons. Another shootout occurred in Pasky-Aryk area. The condition of one of the victims is extremely grave.
