The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Liz Truss was named as Britain’s next prime minister on Monday. Reuters reports.
Liz Truss was declared the winner of the Conservative Party leadership race and will take over as head of the Cabinet.
Former prime minister Boris Johnson resigned on June 8 after a government crisis broke out in the country — more than 50 people left the Cabinet in two days, including heads of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health. They expressed their distrust of Boris Johnson and their disagreement with his management methods. The reason was the scandal around the former Minister of State for Europe and the Americas Christopher Pincher, who arranged a drunken brawl in one of the London clubs. A few years ago, he was accused of sexual harassment.
