Director of the school No. 61 Yuri Nizovsky was detained by the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS). Parents of the students told 24.kg news agency.
«Six young men from the SCNS came and took him away in his own car. They forbade to take photos and videos. They searched his office and sealed it. According to Yuri Nizovsky’s wife, their apartment was also searched,» one of the parents said.
The Bishkek City Hall confirmed that the office of the director of the school No. 61 was sealed.
According to the presidential decree, principals of 966 schools must be replaced by the beginning of the new academic year, since they have been in office for more than five years. They continue to fulfill their duties until the appointment of new directors. The competition started in Talas, six applicants out of seven failed to overcome the required threshold.
Director of the school No. 61 Yuri Nizovsky refused to participate in the competition, considering this process humiliating.
Earlier, members of the Public Movement of Parents for Protection of Education in the Kyrgyz Republic staged a protest. About 40 people with banners in their hands gathered near the building of the Ministry of Education and Science.
