The Bishkek City Council proposed to rename the capital’s districts. Deputy Taalaibek Usubaliev came up with the initiative at the council’s session.
According to him, the names of the districts are morally outdated. When renaming, it is necessary to focus on the national ideology, as the country’s president has talked about it.
Taalaibek Usubaliev suggested new names: Sverdlovsky — after Chingiz Aitmatov or Manas, Pervomaysky — Tordakun Usubaliev or Jusup Abdrakhmanov, Oktyabrsky — Baitik Baatyr or Suimenkul Chokmorov, Leninsky — Iskhak Razzakov.
His colleague Rysbai Amatov noted that there is also a proposal to name the Pervomaisky district after Chingiz Aitmatov, and Sverdlovsky district — after Turdakun Usubaliev.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to rename some villages and districts of the country.
