50 percent of health workers infected with COVID-19 receive no compensation

Almost 50 percent of medical workers who got infected with COVID-19 at work did not receive compensations. Acting Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Zharkynbek Kasymbaev announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.

He noted that the ministry continues to receive complaints from health workers about refusals to pay a compensation, despite the fact that they fell ill while working in the red zone.

«Since the beginning of the pandemic, 6,497 doctors have been infected, 3,600 of them have received compensations. Those who did not receive any, either had a negative PCR test result, or there is no order on work in the red zone. I also think that everyone should be paid, but there are no financial opportunities,» Zharkynbek Kasymbekov said.

According to Deputy Minister Ulan Sadykov, in 2020 the amount of compensation paid reached 1,353 billion soms, in 2021 — 1,351 billion soms, in 2022 — 117 million.

There are 130 medical workers on the waiting list for receiving compensations.
