President Sadyr Japarov congratulated the national football team of Kyrgyzstan on securing the right to participate in the Asian Cup 2023. Presidential press service reported.
The football match between the national teams of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place on Tuesday at the Dolon Omurzakov stadium.
It was the last game of the Asian Cup 2023 qualifying round for the domestic team. The national teams of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan played in a tie with a score 0-0 and both reached the final stage.
Sadyr Japarov personally congratulated the national team on their success. He noted that the players demonstrated beautiful and spectacular football during all the past matches.
In a conversation with the athletes, the president stressed that all financial issues related to the participation of the Kyrgyz national football team in the Asian Cup would be resolved in a timely manner.
He also said that construction of a new modern stadium with a capacity of 22,500 people would begin in Bishkek in August 2022.
«It will be a multifunctional sports arena where it will be possible to hold major international events at the proper level. The arena is needed for the development of football and further popularization of this sport in Kyrgyzstan,» the statement says.
