Kyrgyzstan will be happy, if neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan invest in the construction of Kambarata HPP-1. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov announced.
According to him, launch of the project will benefit not only Kyrgyzstan, but also Central Asia. It will create opportunities for solving problems with irrigation in neighboring states and will contribute to stabilization of the water and energy balance in the region.
«It will also allow export of electricity generated during the summer period to far abroad countries under CASA-1000 project. Kambarata-1 will generate 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, and we will be able to sell each kilowatt-hour produced for 5.15 cents under CASA-1000 project. This will make a significant contribution to the economy of Kyrgyzstan, and the annual net profit of the republic will be $234 million,» the head of state said.
He also expressed readiness to cooperate in the implementation of this project with interested partners. «Neighboring states such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have declared their readiness to invest. We use only 10 percent of Naryn river as irrigation water. The rest is used by neighboring countries. If they invest and contribute, we will only be happy,» Sadyr Japarov concluded.
Sadyr Japarov launched construction of Kambarata HPP-1 in Jalal-Abad region today.
Kambarata HPP-1 will be the largest power facility of the whole cascade of Kambarata hydropower plants. The project implies construction of a 256-meter high rock-fill dam and the power plant with the installed capacity of 1,860 megawatts. The Kambarata HPP-1 will generate an average of 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity with a full reservoir volume of 5.4 billion cubic meters of water.
Construction period is from 8 to 10 years. Commissioning of the first hydroelectric unit of the HPP is planned in four years, if there is permanent financing.
