Depeche Mode’s keyboardist Andy Fletcher passed away at the age of 60. Foreign media report.
According to them, the members of the British band wrote that they were «shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely death of their beloved friend, family member, and bandmate».
Andy Fletcher, or Fletch as he was known, was one of the creators of Depeche Mode — the pioneers of the new electronic sound of the 1980s. The band was formed in 1980 in the English town of Basildon. Some of Depeche Mode’s best known hits include «Enjoy the Silence», «Personal Jesus» and «Just Can’t Get Enough.»
Andy Fletcher played keyboards and bass in the band. Vocalist Dave Gahan and the author of most of the musical compositions, singer, guitarist and keyboardist Martin Gore now remain in Depeche Mode from the original lineup.
