Vladimir Putin to tell his CSTO colleagues about special operation in Ukraine

The President of Russia promised to tell his colleagues in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) about the special operation in Ukraine, but behind closed doors. Vladimir Putin announced it at the meeting of the CSTO on Monday.

He also told that a whole series of joint CSTO exercises in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are planned for this autumn.

According to Vladimir Putin, these measures will serve to increase the combat readiness and the level of coordination of the military structures of the states and, in general, the peacekeeping potential of the CSTO. He also noted that the task of further improvement and optimization of the activities of the CSTO and its governing structures is paramount at the current stage.

«We will also deal with equipping the CSTO Collective Forces with modern weapons and equipment, increasing the operational compatibility of their military contingents, and improving the coherence of the joint actions of our military structures and special services. Relevant issues are being worked out on an ongoing basis in the course of exercises through the CSTO, the practice of holding of which, of course, we intend to expand. We also proceed from the fact that the efforts of the CSTO should continue to be aimed at countering terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime. In this area, the law enforcement agencies of our countries have organized good cooperation in blocking the channels for recruiting citizens, neutralizing the resource base of international terrorist organizations,» Vladimir Putin stressed.
