June events 2010: Akhmatbek Keldibekov interrogated

Former speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Akhmatbek Keldibekov was summoned for questioning to the Prosecutor General’s Office. He wrote about it on his Facebook page.

According to him, he was interrogated as a witness within the case on June 2010 events.

Earlier, the President Sadyr Japarov and the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev were summoned to the Prosecutor General’s Office for interrogation.

Interim government was formed after the April 2010 events. It consisted of 14 members, including Roza Otunbayeva (head of the provisional government), Almazbek Atambayev (first deputy head), Temir Sariev and Azimbek Beknazarov (deputy heads) and Damira Niyazalieva (health minister). Emilbek Kaptagaev was Chief of Staff of the provisional government.

The criminal investigation into the June events was resumed in April 2021. The investigation is being conducted under the Article «Abuse of office» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The case was initiated against officials of the interim government on the fact of assistance to the unimpeded illegal departure from the country of notorious Kadyrzhan Batyrov, which was one of the reasons that led to the tragic consequences in May-June 2010 in the south of the republic.
