Cases of detection of counterfeit U.S. dollar banknotes have become more frequent in the currency market of Kyrgyzstan. The National Bank of the country reported.
The National Bank of Kyrgyz Republic asks people to be careful when carrying out foreign currency exchange operations. To verify the authenticity of the banknotes, one should ask the employees of the commercial banks and foreign exchange offices to check it on a currency detector. When visiting exchange offices, you should pay attention to the presence of a license from the National Bank.
The license and original registration letter of the exchange office should be kept in a place visible to visitors.
«Examination of dubious foreign currency bills is carried out by the State Forensic Expert Service. In addition, we remind you that you should not try to utter dubious foreign currency banknotes, because not only the production, but also the distribution of counterfeit banknotes entails criminal liability. Be vigilant, in case of detection of counterfeit foreign currency banknotes you should contact the nearest district department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic,» the National Bank informed.
