EAEU works out new measures to improve economy sustainability

Initiatives of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries aimed at implementation of a list of measures to improve sustainability of the EAEU economy were discussed at the meeting of the high-level working group at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). EEC press service reported.

The session was held by the head of the working group, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov. In particular, proposals to reduce import duties and tariff benefits for goods of critical imports, as well as the initiative of the Russian side to increase the cost and weight standards of import of goods for personal use were considered.

In addition, the focus was on the restrictive measures imposed by the states in the framework of the functioning of the EAEU internal market. The parties discussed the steps necessary to preserve the cooperation chains between industrial enterprises of the countries.

As Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the EEC, stressed, the Commission is working on a daily basis to implement agreed measures. Prompt reaction of the authorized bodies of the member states will help to stabilize the situation and to avoid disruptions in the supply of the required goods.

Much attention was paid to the mechanism of settlements in the national currency and the procedure for transferring the sums of import customs duties, as well as special, anti-dumping and countervailing duties to the income of the member states.

The draft documents will be submitted to the commission’s council for consideration after finalization.
