The situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is relatively stable. The State Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
According to it, representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met the day before. The Kyrgyz delegation was led by head of the SCNS Border Service Ularbek Sharsheev. The Tajik delegation was led by Radjabali Rakhmonali, commander of the SCNS Border Troops.
The heads of Batken and Sughd regions, heads of regional power structures and law enforcement agencies of the two countries took part in the negotiations.
An agreement was reached to continue withdrawal of additional forces and equipment from the border to their permanent deployment places. Monitoring of the implementation of the decision will be carried out by a commission consisting of members of the competent authorities that will carry out the work:
- On April 14 within Leilek (Kyrgyzstan) and Gafurov (Tajikistan) districts;
- On April 15 within Batken (Kyrgyzstan) and Isfara (Tajikistan) districts.
In addition, a working group will be created from among border representatives of the parties in the areas of responsibility, which should work to clarify the routes of movement of border guards of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.
Local authorities together with law enforcement agencies should carry out explanatory work with the local population of the border areas on the observance of previously reached agreements on the order of joint land and water use.
Border guards should ensure exact observance of the requirements of the line of conduct of border guards on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border by servicemen of the border agencies. At the end of the meeting, the heads of the delegations signed a protocol.
Another shootout occurred yesterday night on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan opened fire on the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic at about 9.17 p.m. during a meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who arrived at the scene of the incident as a reinforcement. After midnight, the parties agreed to withdraw additional forces to the points of their permanent deployment.
