Transport Ministry resolves issue of resumption of passenger traffic with Russia

The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan is addressing issues of resumption of passenger traffic between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Press service of the ministry reports.

To date, relevant agreements have been reached between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Transit passenger transportation by rail became possible since February 21.

«On March 11, a telephone conversation took place between the Ministers of Transport of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation to discuss the issue. The Kyrgyz side turned to the Russian side for assistance in resolving this issue. In addition, the issue of resuming passenger transportation is being worked out between the railway administrations of the two countries and the Department of Motor Transport. Representatives of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu also raised the issue of launching international passenger traffic between Kyrgyzstan and Russia,» the Ministry of Transport said.

Relevant letters were sent to the Ministries of Transport of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the issue of resumption of international bus service. The issue is under consideration.

«In connection with the forthcoming resumption of regular passenger traffic along international bus routes, the Department of Motor Transport is carrying out appropriate work with territorial offices, carriers, as well as bus stations and station facilities,» the ministry stressed.
