Kyrgyz Temir Zholy pays off most of its debts

Kyrgyz Temir Zholu state enterprise has paid off most of its debts. The head of the enterprise Azamat Sakiev said at the meeting of the Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture and Construction of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, previously, the state enterprise had debts to Russian and Tajik railways.

«We have also purchased top-class gondola cars, we are renewing sleepers and rails, they meet modern standards. We have switched from wooden sleepers to reinforced concrete sleepers. They differ in service life. We can already see the results after the upgrading. For example, Bishkek — Balykchy route by train took 5 hours and 20 minutes, now the time has decreased by approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. There are many plans, but, at the same time, there are problems, too. We need to renew the trains, it costs a lot of money. For example, earlier we bought gondola cars for 3,800 million rubles, and the prices are changing now,» Azamat Sakiev said.
