Kyrgyz businessman kidnapped by adherents of jihadist ideology

Adherents of jihadist ideology kidnapped a Kyrgyzstani and extorted a large amount of money from him. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The 27-year-old entrepreneur S.E.M. was abducted on March 19. Representatives of the non-traditional religious Salafi movement, adherents of jihadist ideology under the religious pseudonyms Abdurahim, Mura, Khamza and Alina, as well as two unidentified persons demanded $4,000 from the man.

«The kidnappers tortured the man. They forced him to pawn his car in a pawnshop to additionally get $1,000 from him. One of the kidnappers, 38-year-old B.A.Zh., was detained. He is a native of Talas region. The man has a criminal record,» the state committee reported.
