Single-mandate deputy Elmurza Satybaldiev was elected a Deputy Chairman of the Permanent Commission of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly for Defense and Security Issues. He himself confirmed the information to 24.kg news agency.
The MP added that his candidacy is to be approved by the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly. He retains the mandate.
Elmurza Satybaldiev served as a Prosecutor General from 2007 to 2009 during the rule of Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who was ousted in the April 2010 coup. In 2009, he was appointed an adviser to the head of state on security, defense and law enforcement issues.
He was a defendant in a criminal case on the April events. The deputy was convicted under the article «Official misconduct» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. His conviction was removed from official records.
