Kyrgyzstan plans compulsory international accreditation for medical schools

It is proposed to introduce a legal norm on compulsory international accreditation of medical schools in Kyrgyzstan. Nuripa Mukanova, head of the Anti-Corruption Business Council, made the announcement.

She told about the work of an inter-departmental commission that checked the training of foreign students in medical specialties. As a result, she proposed to legislate the mandatory presence of international accreditation for universities working in the field of export of education.

«Because those universities, which have international accreditation, are under close attention, control, evaluation of the World Federation for Medical Education and its regional offices. Universities that have received international accreditation under the World Federation for Medical Education for at least 3 years can operate in the international market for the export of medical education,» Nuripa Mukanova said.

She also pointed out that schools that have received international accreditation for only one year, according to the resolution, have the right to enroll foreign applicants in the amount of up to 50 percent of the total number of students allowed for a particular university in accordance with the licensing agreement.
