Situation in Ukraine: Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan warns of fraudsters

A group of unscrupulous compatriots tried to raise and seize money previously collected from the Kyrgyz diaspora abroad under the pretext of assistance to Kyrgyzstanis in Ukraine. Idris Kadyrkulov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ukraine, reported on his Facebook page.

He said that in these anxious days the main efforts of the Embassy are aimed at organizing transportation of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and their family members to a safe place with their further evacuation to their homeland.

«Employees are working under difficult living and working conditions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At the same time, there is a shortage of public transport and fuel and lubricants in the country due to martial law. Credit and financial institutions are not functioning in some regions. In these conditions, in order to quickly achieve their objectives, the embassy employees resort to unconventional methods, sometimes risking their lives and solving financial issues at the expense of their own funds,» Idris Kadyrkulov wrote.

At the same time, he stresses that there are facts when some «figures», taking advantage of the situation, make attempts to earn money under the guise of organizing fundraising for help.

«Our work is also hampered by «poor excuses for patriots» who spread false and fake information about various non-existent campaigns for the sake of populism. For example, a group of compatriots tried to raise and seize funds, having previously collected them from the Kyrgyz diaspora abroad. In this regard, I want to officially warn that we are closely monitoring the selfish intentions of individuals, and those who do break the law will be held accountable to the severest extent,» the Ambassador said.

He advised those who want to provide financial and other assistance to needy citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ukraine to hand over assistance in a targeted manner after coordination with officers of the Consular Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or embassies in the respective states not to fall victim to fraudsters.

The hostilities in Ukraine are ongoing. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many countries have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions against Russia.
