Situation in Ukraine: Ambassador about irresponsibility of Kyrgyzstanis

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Ukraine Idris Kadyrkulov calls on the Kyrgyzstanis staying in the country to be responsible and to strictly follow the rules and national legislation. He wrote about it on his Facebook page.

According to him, evacuation becomes complicated because of the irresponsible attitude of individual citizens of Kyrgyzstan to the generally accepted rules imposed on foreigners in Ukraine.

«When the military conflict started, about 50 Kyrgyzstanis applied to the consular department of the embassy to receive ’certificates of return home’ , because they had no passports or they were invalid. This suggests that parents did not bother to obtain documents for their children born in Ukraine and renew the expired ones, or they had already obtained foreign citizenship and there was no need to renew the Kyrgyz passports,» the diplomat said.

According to him, the parents of two minor children, who are in Ivano-Frankivsk (western Ukraine) without documents, have asked by telephone from Kyrgyzstan to deliver their children, explaining that their passports were left in a madrasa in Kyiv.

Idris Kadyrkulov notes that despite repeated recommendations to leave the country, some citizens do not realize the danger of the impending threat and remain in Ukraine.

«Movement around the city is severely restricted, public transport does not work, state and municipal authorities as well as credit and financial institutions do not work, which creates additional difficulties in solving the problems. But despite this, the embassy is making every possible effort to evacuate Kyrgyzstanis to safe places as quickly as possible. I would like to appeal to our compatriots living in Ukraine to strictly observe the rules of the country of stay,» he said.

According to the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan, 1,357 Kyrgyzstanis are currently in Ukraine. There are 680 citizens registered with the consular service. Nine people crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border with their families. Earlier, the embassy reported that 300 Kyrgyzstanis had expressed a desire to leave the country.

Today is the fifth day of fighting in Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, the Russian President Vladimir Putin announced start of a special military operation. It was regarded in Ukraine and in the West as a full-scale invasion. Harsh economic sanctions began to be imposed on Russia on February 25.

The number of casualties, both among military personnel of both countries and civilians, is increasing. The number of Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Europe is growing. Protests against Russia’s actions are taking place in many countries around the world.
