Conflict in Ukraine: Human rights activists hold rally near Russian Embassy

Another rally is held near Russia’s Embassy in Bishkek.

Members of the human rights movement Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan and representatives of Kylym Shamy Human Rights Center hold the peaceful rally today.

«Civil society cannot remain silent when Russia once again violates its obligations under the international law. We therefore make this appeal to prevent armed aggression by the Russian Federation and the inevitable violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law. The armed attack on Ukraine is an international crime of aggression, which since July 2018 falls under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court,» the human rights activists said.

A similar rally took place the day before.

On the night of February 24, Vladimir Putin officially announced start of a military special operation in Donbas.

An extraordinary meeting of Russia’s Security Council was held in Moscow on February 21 to discuss the issue of recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree.
