Priority areas of import substitution in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were considered. The Eurasian Economic Commission reported (EEC).
It is noted that the participants of the meeting supported the transformation of the high-level working group into a commission for import substitution in high-tech industries, including the aviation industry.
«We follow the instructions of the leaders of our countries, who have repeatedly emphasized the importance of creating such a commission. Specific functions and tasks of the created body will be worked out in detail with the relevant ministries of the union countries,» Artak Kamalyan, EEC Minister in charge of the Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex, said.
He told that ten investment projects included in the EEU industrialization map have already been implemented in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. At the same time, during the meeting it was decided to update the content of the map. In particular, representatives of Belarus suggested supplementing the document with the country’s projects in the chemical industry and furniture production.
Kyrgyzstan outlined its potential in the light industry.
Work has also begun on the inclusion of large and significant investment projects of Uzbekistan in the information base of the EAEU.
During the meeting, the Director of the Department of Industrial Policy of the EEC Nikolai Kushnarev outlined areas of further work of the Commission and the EEU countries on import substitution. It is about the use of such mechanisms as industrial clusters, interstate programs and projects, Eurasian technological platforms.
«We need to continue working on the development of industrial cooperation and subsequent import substitution in the interests of «the Eurasian Five», which requires an active participation of the EAEU states themselves and the implementation of their policies aimed at industrial cooperation with partners in the Union with the coordinated assistance of the Eurasian Economic Commission,» Artak Kamalyan summed up.
