Deputies oppose reduction in number of parliamentary committees

The more committees, the easier the work of the Parliament will be. MP Adakhan Madumarov said at a session of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan today.

He proposed creation of separate committees on culture, hydroelectricity and subsoil use.

«The number of committees would not be a burden on the treasury. In 1995, we had 17 committees for 35 MPs,» the deputy said.

MP Nurbek Alimbekov suggested creating a separate committee on agrarian policy.

«We have 36 deputies from the regions. They are better aware of the problems such as, for example, the lack of water and land. We need to form the Agrarian Committee again,» he explained.

The commission on determining the structure of Parliament previously proposed creation of seven committees instead of nine:

  • Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security;
  • Committee on the Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy;
  • Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Judicial, Legal Issues and Regulations;
  • Committee on Financial and Economic Policy;
  • Committee on Social Policy, Education, Science, Healthcare and Sports;
  • Committee on Law and Order, Fighting Crime and Combating Corruption;
  • Committee on Transport, Communications, Architecture, Construction and Agrarian Policy.
