Ravshan Dzheenbekov released from remand center in Bishkek

Politician Ravshan Dzhenbekov was released from the remand center 1 in Bishkek. His son Azat Ravshan reported on Facebook.

On December 22, 2021, the defense of the imprisoned politician Ravshan Dzheenbekov asked the court to cancel the measure of restraint or change it to one not related to imprisonment. «He has been in custody for 363 days, that is, his term of detention will expire in two days. According to the law, they are obliged to release him or change the measure of restraint,» the lawyers said.

It should be noted that the measure of restraint was also canceled for other defendants in the criminal case on Koi-Tash events, except for the former president Almazbek Atambayev. The defendants in the case are MPs Irina Karamushkina, Asel Koduranova, as well as Kunduz Zholdubaeva, Atambayev’s former guard Kanat Sagymbaev and others.

Earlier, arrest of Almazbek Atambayev was canceled within two criminal cases. However, he is being held in custody on the basis of the final sentence in the case on the release of Aziz Batukaev.

Several criminal cases have been initiated against the former president, including on the riots in Koi-Tash village on August 7-8, 2019, corruption and money laundering. In the summer, he was charged with illegal issuance of passports to Turkish citizens, as well as staging riots in October 2020.
