Parliamentary commission on stripping MPs Asylbek Jeenbekov and Torobai Zulpukarov of their immunity refused to prosecute the MPs. It became known the day before.
According to Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan, the procedural decision in the criminal case will be based on the conclusion of the Parliament.
In particular, if the Parliament sides with prosecution, Asylbek Jeenbekov and Torobai Zulpukarov will be prosecuted. If the Parliament supports the decision of the parliamentary commission, they will be released from custody and the criminal proceedings will be temporarily terminated until the expiry of their term of office.
Asylbek Jeenbekov and Torobai Zulpukarov are defendants in a criminal case on Kumtor. They were detained in June 2021.
