Health Ministry of Kyrgyzstan and WHO to sign two-year cooperation agreement

The Ministry of Health and WHO in Kyrgyzstan are to sign a two-year cooperation agreement on health issues. The ministry’s press center reported.

According to its data, a working meeting of the parties was held on Tuesday to discuss an action plan to improve the quality of medical care the population of the republic receives.

«After the development of the action plan, a two-year agreement will be signed, within which the work on protection of public health will be carried out jointly with the WHO for the next two years,» Nurgul Ibraeva, Chief Specialist of the Treatment Department of the Ministry of Health, said.

Nazira Artykova, head of the WHO Office in the Kyrgyz Republic, explained that the program will be based on the organization’s three global goals: achieving universal healthcare coverage, ensuring public health safety in emergencies, and improving quality of life through healthy lifestyle activities. «These three values are the basis for the European program, which was brought in 2021 by our regional director Dr. Hans Kluge, and introduced to both the Ministry of Health and the President of Kyrgyzstan. The head of state and the WHO Regional Director made commitments to each other to support this work until 2030,» she said.
